D. Timothy Hughes
Mr. Hughes practices in the areas of contracts for commercial and consumer transactions in goods, services, technology, construction, and insurance, including workers compensation.
Mr. Hughes has represented buyers, sellers, manufacturers, distributors, consultants and technology professionals in drafting, negotiating, and interpreting contracts for the procurement, sale, manufacture, assembly and distribution of products and services, and the license of technology. He assists public and private corporations in purchasing and supply management policies, procedures and dispute resolution. Mr. Hughes has served as an arbitrator for commercial, construction and environmental contract cases.
Mr. Hughes has been associated with Maguire & Schneider, L.L.P. since 2003, assisting clients involved with telecommunications and technology agreements, legal risk management, insurance and workers; compensation, the Uniform Commercial Code and purchasing law, and consumer law. Mr. Hughes began his legal career in private practice in Denver, Colorado, representing all parties in construction contract litigation, banks and leasing companies in commercial collections and creditor bankruptcy litigation. He became Vice President of a legal publishing company and has been a principal in Hughes Enterprises, a legal training consultancy, since 1991.
Mr. Hughes has presented more than 300 one and two day legal seminars for major corporations on sales and purchasing law, including: agency law; the Uniform Commercial Code; technology agreements; copyrights; trademarks; trade secrets; bankruptcy; antitrust; insurance and risk management; international transactions; and, business torts. He created the seminar materials for the above programs and has written many articles in his field of practice. Mr. Hughes is admitted to practice in Ohio and Colorado (currently inactive). He is a member of the American Bar Association.
