Ms. Goethals practice consists of the defense of professional liability claims brought in civil court and before regulatory bodies, primarily involving the real estate trades, including realtors, appraisers, mortgage brokers, title insurance agents and auctioneers. Her practice also extends to the defense of individuals and businesses facing white collar criminal and parallel proceedings. Ms. Goethals has jury trial experience.

Ms. Goethals earned her law degree from Capital University Law School in 2005, achieved academic honors and was a member of that school's mock trial team. While in law school, Ms. Goethals worked for The National Center for Adoption Law & Policy at Capital Law School. She also served as a clerk at the Attorney General's Office and later at Maguire & Schneider, LLP. Ms. Goethals is licensed in Ohio and Missouri and became an associate attorney at Maguire & Schneider upon admission to the Ohio Bar.

Before attending law school, Ms. Goethals graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Central Missouri. After graduating from Central Missouri, Ms. Goethals was a news reporter for two daily newspapers in the D.C. area where she covered several high profile cases as a court and justice reporter.

Ms. Goethals is a member of the American Bar Association and the Columbus Bar Association. Ms. Goethals also serves on the Young Professional Advisory Council for Goodwill Industries and was selected for inclusion in the Super Lawyers-Ohio Rising Stars Edition in 2009 and 2010.
